Knife Scales
Spyderco Resilience Scales I got the inspiration for this from Smoky Mountain Knife Works Custom Shipwreck Patina scales Starting with bar stock 2" UM-360 Brass from McMaster Carr. PATINA This part is actually really easy and fun. I found a good instructable here . This can be done on brass or copper. Flame Anodizing Hardware I figured after all of this, putting the plain stainless steel screws back in would look a little weird. So I went with some philips screws I had on hand. I removed the black oxide finish and flamed them with a torch to a deep blue. This was a bit tricky because it is very easy to overshoot the desired color. Different Temperatures: It is easy to overshoot the colors. once the flame is removed it will continue to warm up for a short time. The most difficult color to achieve is purple. Finished! I managed to finish this in a weekend, with the bulk of the time being hand sanding and waiting for the scales to patina. I think the next ones I do will...
